floopy helps you find clean, safe toilets nearby. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We keep it plain — no dark patterns. Questions: info@floopyapp.com.

1. Who we are
“floopy” (“we”, “us”) operates the floopy mobile app and floopyapp.com. You can reach us any time at info@floopyapp.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account info — your email, a username you choose, and a password (stored only as a secure one-way hash; we never see your actual password).
- Sign-in provider info — if you choose to sign in with Google, Apple, or LINE, that provider sends us your name and email address so we can create or find your account. We receive nothing else: no contacts, no friends list, no posts, no activity. We never receive your password for that provider, and we can’t act on your behalf there. Apple lets you hide your real address and use a private relay one instead; that works fine with floopy. LINE only releases an email address if you grant that permission — if you don’t, you simply get an account without one.
- Location — your device’s approximate location, only while you’re using the app, to show toilets near you and measure walking distance. See section 4.
- Content you add — toilets you add, photos you upload, reviews, ratings, and status/safety reports.
- Basic usage & device data — app interactions and technical logs (e.g. IP address, timestamps) needed to run and protect the service.
We do not collect your contacts, browsing history, or precise background location, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
3. How we use your information
- To show you nearby toilets and their details.
- To let you contribute data and earn floops (our in-app points).
- Your email address — used only to verify your account and to send you notices about your account. It is never shown to other users, never sold or shared with anyone for their own use, and never used for marketing or advertising. If you signed in with Google, Apple, or LINE, the address they gave us is used for exactly the same and nothing more.
- To keep the community safe — moderating photos, handling safety reports, and preventing abuse.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
4. Location
We request location access only to find toilets around you and calculate distance. We use it live to answer your request — we do not build a history of everywhere you go, and we never sell your location. You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings at any time; the app still works with a default map area.
5. Photos & content moderation
Photos you upload are stored on our own servers. Every photo is automatically scanned for explicit content before it can appear publicly; the scan runs on our servers and your images are not sent to third-party AI services. Photos that appear inappropriate are rejected or held for review. Content you post (photos, reviews, reports) is user-generated and may be publicly visible.
6. What’s public, and your privacy controls
Your contributions can be shown to other floopers, attributed to your username. You control this in Account → Settings: you can hide your username, avatar, rank, floops, added toilets, reviews, and stats individually — or switch on Ninja mode to go fully anonymous, where you appear only as an anonymous “flooper”. Your email is never shown to other users.
7. Safety reports
Reports about safety (e.g. a suspected recording device, a broken lock, feeling unsafe) are submitted anonymously to other users. We use them to flag or remove locations. Safety reports are informational and community-sourced — see the Terms for what that means. In an emergency, contact local authorities (in Japan, police 110).
8. Who we share data with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run floopy, such as our hosting provider and our map-tile provider (map imagery is served via MapTiler using OpenStreetMap data). We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our users. Where we become aware of a crime or illegal activity connected to floopy, we may share relevant information with the police or other authorities, and/or with the staff or operator of the venue.
9. Keeping & deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account any time in Account → Delete account, which removes your account, floops, and personal contributions. Some anonymized or aggregate data, and content necessary for safety or legal records, may be retained.
10. Security
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and access to the service is rate-limited to deter abuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Children
floopy is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
12. Your rights & international users
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. floopy is operated with users in Japan and elsewhere in mind, and we handle personal information consistent with applicable law (including Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information). To exercise any right, email info@floopyapp.com.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
14. Japan privacy law (APPI)
We handle personal information in line with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報保護法, “APPI”). In APPI terms: we use personal information only for the purposes in Section 3, we do not sell personal information, and we do not provide it to third parties except as described in Section 8 or with your consent. Data is hosted on servers in Japan. You may request disclosure, correction, or deletion of your personal information at any time via the contact below or the in-app account deletion, and we will respond as APPI requires.
